USF’s Air Force ROTC finishes third in Lime Cup competition

It was a long day on Feb. 26 for Air Force ROTC cadets from many different schools as they began competing for the annual Lime Cup at around 8 a.m. The Lime Cup competition is divided into several different sports, with each sport having its own winner. In the end there was an announced overall Lime Cup winner.

“We’re hoping to claim the Lime Cup back after UCF won the previous year,” said Rob Sadusky, a USF senior in AFROTC and one of the main cadets in charge of the Lime Cup.

There are five events that six school’s AFROTC compete for. This year, the Lime Cup was held at The University of South Florida. The schools that participated were the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, the University of South Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida State University and the University of Miami.

The events and winners were:

1.     Races: 4×100 meters, 4×400 meters, and 4×800 meters – USF

2.     Volleyball - USF

3.     Written Air Force Knowledge test - UCF

4.     Flag football – UF

5.     Soccer – UF

The overall standings for the Lime Cup were as follows:

1.     University of Central Florida

2.     University of Florida

3.     University of South Florida

4.     Embry Riddle Aeronautical University

5.     Florida State University

6.     University of Miami
