With only a month of the regular season remaining, the Lightning have been fighting to keep their post season hopes alive. The Florida Panthers, the Winnipeg Jets, and the Washington Capitals are ahead of the Lightning in the Southeast Division, but the Lightning could still feasibly win the division, sitting only six points out of first place.
The Tampa Bay Lightning traded forward Steve Downie to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday in a rare three-team deal that also included the Detroit Red Wings. After trading Downie to Colorado in exchange for former-Avalanche defenseman Kyle Quincey. Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman traded Quincey to the Detroit Red Wings for a minor league player and a first-round draft pick in 2012.
